UK arrivals – Peaches Geldof, Courtney Love, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes…and beavers

beaversDespite economic turmoil, bad weather and last year’s arrival of Paris Hilton, Tom Cruise is reportedly considering leaving the States so wife Katie Holmes can pursue her theatre career in London’s West End. They’ll be joined by returning divorcee Peaches Geldolf and rocker Courtney Love, who, tired of LA life, is also headed towards Blighty shores.

They’re not the only new arrivals catching the headlines- captured beavers in Norway are heading towards the UK as part of a Scottish Wildlife Trust and Royal Zoological Society of Scotland scheme to reintroduce the creatures to Scotland, where they were previously extinct. Much like the fervour surrounding the return of Peaches, this conservation milestone will be the first-ever formal wild reintroduction of a native mammal to the United Kingdom.

Just like our stars, the four-family group were specially flown into Heathrow before being quarantined for six months. Shame the same stringent rules can’t be placed upon the visa’s of American heiresses.

In an amount worthy of Ms Hilton’s trust fund, the beaver reintroduction project has received £1 million backing, with the Scottish Wildlife Trust also receiving regular cash injections from Scotland’s own charity lottery. Since its launch in 2008, players of the People’s Postcode Lottery have so far raised over £551,255 for Scottish Wildlife Trust, and an astounding £1.7 million for charities all over Scotland.
