Scotland child poverty still ‘unacceptably high’

In a new report entitled ‘Severe Child Poverty in Scotland 2010’, Save the Children have revealed that almost 10% of children in Scotland are living in families which have less than £33 a day to spend.

The report described how the poorest families in Scotland are £113 a week short of having enough to cover the basic and essential costs of family living.
Alex Neil, Communities Minister commented that the new statistics were “simply unacceptable”.
