Christmas Cards

First, of course, are the traditional Christmas cards. Almost all of our supported charities are offering lovely Christmas cards this year, but some of the stand-out offerings include Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s gorgeous wildlife cards, WWF-UK’s wide range of lovely photography and graphic art cards, and the Daisy Chain Project’s snowman Christmas card, designed by Sophie Bodoc, aged 6.

For the person who has everything

Dedicate a tree as a gift for the person who has everything!

Dedicate a tree as a gift for the person who has everything!

If you’re looking for an unusual present for the person who has everything, why not give them the gift of a tree dedication? Both the Woodland Trust and Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust offer tree dedications in your area. When you dedicate a tree to a loved one, it’s a present that lasts a lifetime. You and your family can visit the tree any time, knowing it celebrates a person you love.

And speaking of trees, how about giving your loved one a living tree they can plant in their own garden? At the Woodland Trust’s website, you can choose from a wide variety of UK-native trees the recipient will enjoy year after year.

If your loved one is a fan of the arts, what could be better than a membership to one of the most renowned art institutions in the UK? The National Galleries of Scotland offers a Friends subscription that gives the recipient free entry into special exhibitions, exclusive previews of upcoming shows and much more.

If your loved one loves the outdoors, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust has lots of great nature books and field guides that could point them to fantastic places they might never have seen before!

Shiny pretty things

Beautiful jewellery is an old stand-by for Christmas presents, but some of our supported charities have pieces of jewellery that are truly unique. Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres offers the exquisite silver and malachite Cosmic Pendant designed by Charles Jenks. They also offer the Backing Life bracelet, which is designed by Francesca Amfitheatrof. Because Maggie’s is associated with many well-known designers and artists, their entire gift range is elegant and beautifully designed.

For the nature lover in your life, WWF-UK has a broad range of organic, recycled, Fair Trade and Green Tick jewellery items. We were especially taken with the sterling silver Fifi Bijoux Silver Panda pendant, but the WWF-UK shop has lots of lovely pieces to choose from.

Calendars

When you give a calendar, you know it’s a gift that will be used all year! Lots of our supported charities are offering calendars you can give as gifts for Christmas or to celebrate the New Year. CHILDREN 1ST offers a 2012 Scotsman wall calendar as well as desk and appointment calendars. WWF-UK has a 2012 calendar featuring stunning pictures of animals in their natural environment. Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust offers a 2012 appointment calendar with gorgeous photos provided by the talented locals that make up Settle Photographic Group. Scottish Wildlife Trust’s 2012 Wildlife Calendar also offers beautiful photography of Scotland’s iconic wildlife species.
