Monday, June 29, 2009 What Would You Do If You Won A Fortune?
With the £1.5 million Postcode Summer Belter coming up, it begs the question- what would you do if you suddenly found yourself a millionaire, or even in possession of £199,679, like one of the Spring Belter winners, Audrey Barr of beautiful Balloch?
Audrey immediately paid off her mortgage, created a nest egg for her family and ensured her daughter could graduate from university and start her career debt-free. That’s quite something in today’s economic climate!
But other players striking it rich have spent money in very different ways- for Paula Bowers, winning £10,000 meant not only a deposit on a house and a holiday, but that she could kit stunning daughter Jamey in the very best of clothing for her entry to the 2009 Miss Scotland awards. A worthy investment indeed, which saw gorgeous Jamey make the final, beating tough competition.
It was a case of Freaky Friday for healthcare assistant Morag, who won £12,500 and had been forewarned by a clairvoyant! Buying a speedy new car to replace her old banger was only the tip of the iceberg for Morag, as the mum of two also decided to splash out on not one, not two, but FOUR holidays to Turkey for the family. Happy days indeed for the Aberdonian winner!
Some people go for glamorous holidays, others for kitchen revamps, and some, like £25,000 winner Angela Kee, decide to go all out and prepare for the best the Scottish summer has to offer. The Great Outdoors will be calling for the family of five, as Angela has bought new bikes, tents and even a sail boat for her clan- so there’ll be no shortage of things for the kids to do this summer!
So what would you do? Are you a skinflint? Would you tuck your winnings away for a rainy day? Or would you go on a once-in-a-lifetime shopping spree or even chance your luck on the blackjack table? Post your answers in the comments box and let us know what you’d do if you struck lucky!
