Wildlife Watch Fun For Kids

Kids in Edinburgh are expected to go wild this month as the Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT) prepares to launch a new Wildlife Watch club for north Edinburgh.

Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of SWT which aims to get kids between eight and 14 active out-of-doors and inspire them to learn more about local wildlife and how to protect it. Edinburgh already has one successful Wildlife Watch club, based in the city, with 20 young members.

The new north Edinburgh group will be based at Cramond, providing a perfect location to allow kids to explore the natural world in the surrounding river, beach, and woods.

SWT’s People and Wildlife Officer, Donna Mathieson, said: “The launch of a second Wildlife Watch club for Edinburgh is part of a wider programme of redevelopment within SWT, which aims to increase the appeal of the organisation to children and young families.

“Exploring the outdoors has always been a favourite pastime for children, and we aim to take this natural enthusiasm to combine fun activities with education.

“I am sure the new North Edinburgh club is a big hit with local children. And with the South Edinburgh club also always happy to welcome new members, SWT are making it even easier to let your kids go wild!”

The club will run on the third Saturday of every month.

The South Edinburgh Wildlife Watch club meets from 2pm to 4pm on the first Saturday of the month alternating meeting venues between Hermitage of Braid and Holyrood Park Education Centre.
